Master Time Management and Lead a Balanced Life

Do you ever feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day, like you’re constantly falling behind and struggling to keep up? Most officers would say yes. Between your shift work, exercise, social life and family; finding time to live your life as a law enforcement officer isn’t always easy.

Even though it is difficult, it IS possible to fit your full life into a mere twenty-four hours and not lose your mind in the process. The key is time management. Time management is about delegating, prioritizing, to-do lists and minimizing multi-tasking (a very ineffective tool used by many officers). It is about focusing on what matters, and refusing to waste time on meaningless, unproductive diversions.

Here’s how to get started:

1. Think about the time management problems you face. Do you check your emails too often? Waste time on social media? Get easily distracted? Avoid big projects? Make a list of your challenges.

2.  Of those problems, what is your biggest challenge? This should be the one that causes you the most grief and the most time lost. Choose a tool to help you tackle your challenge on this website: Mind Tools - Essential Tools For an Excellent Career

If you find yourself still struggling to manage your time effectively, seek the help of a qualified proffessional who can help you get a handle on your time management to make you more productive, feel less stress, and give you the peace of mind you crave.
